GENOME WIDE IDENTIFICATION OF NEW GENES AND PATHWAYS IN PATIENTS WITH BOTH AUTOIMMUNE THYROIDITIS AND TYPE 1 DIABETES - Unknown journal (n.d.) · Unknown authors · PubMed 25936594
ABSTRACT: Autoimmune thyroid diseases (AITD) and Type 1 diabetes (T1D) frequently occur in the same individual pointing to a strong shared genetic susceptibility. Indeed, the cooccurrence of T1D and AITD in the same individual is classified as a variant of the autoimmune polyglandular syndrome type 3 (designated APS3v). Our aim was to identify new genes and mechanisms causing the co-occurrence of T1D+AITD (APS3v) in the same individual using a genome-wide approach. For our discovery set we analyzed 346 Caucasian APS3v patients and 727 gender and ethnicity matched healthy controls. Genotyping was performed using the Illumina Human660W-Quad.v1. The replication set included 185 APS3v patients and 340 controls. Association analyses were performed using the PLINK program, and pathway analyses w

Key HLA‐DRB1‐DQB1 haplotypes and role of the BTNL2 gene for response to a hepatitis B vaccine - Unknown journal (n.d.) · Unknown authors · PubMed 29534301
ABSTRACT: Approximately 5‐10% of individuals who are vaccinated with a hepatitis B (HB) vaccine designed based on the hepatitis B virus (HBV) genotype C fail to acquire protective levels of antibodies. Here, host genetic factors behind low immune response to this HB vaccine were investigated by a genome‐wide association study (GWAS) and Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) association tests. The GWAS and HLA association tests were carried out using a total of 1,193 Japanese individuals including 107 low responders, 351 intermediate responders, and 735 high responders. Classical HLA class II alleles were statistically imputed using the genome‐wide SNP typing data. The GWAS identified independent associations of HLA‐DRB1‐DQB1, HLA‐DPB1 and BTNL2 genes with immune response to a HB vaccin
